WINTER
We have split our
trips into 2 seasons. By "Winter" we mean early
November to late April (whereas "Spring & Autumn"
refers to May/June and September/October).
Winter in the High Atlas generally means
snow above the 2500m line (this varies a bit during the season and
from year to year but gives you an idea of where to expect
encountering snow). The mountains are utterly transformed by the
snow and can turn easy trekking routes to serious winter objectives.
They are also beautiful and it is one of our favourite seasons
here. We've
had some great winter trips over the past few years and you can see some of
the many photos we've taken in our photo gallery.
Our Toubkal
Winter Ascents are very popular.
North Africa's highest peak in sunshine (usually!) & snow. Many
companies offer winter ascent trips of the highest mountain
in North Africa as just part of their overall product listing - we
specialise in them! From 3 day turn-around trips for the fit, to
8 day full winter mountaineering programmes, we know this
mountain, its routes and its moods like an old friend!
There are many routes on Toubkal ranging from the "voie normal" south cwm
to the reasonably straightforward but far less frequented north cwm (which in winter is our preferred "normal route"),
to the Alpine-like SW and NE ridge routes. Whatever route you aim
to climb Toubkal with us, you can be assured of a quality mountain
experience.
Snowshoeing is not an
activity you would think of in Morocco but this is a land of
surprises! February and March are generally the best months - we
provide guided trips for small groups who are looking for some real
back country adventure!.
So - whatever you feel like doing in
winter on or around North Africa's highest peak, just Contact
Us with your ideas....
