WINTER TREKKING BELOW THE SNOW
Generally speaking in wintertime, the snowline in the High Atlas is around 2500m - although this obviously varies depending on the season and what the slope aspect is. Often you will find snow on N & NE facing slopes down to 2200m but on S & SW facing it is up at 3000m!

So organising a (mule supported) trek at this time of the year requires planning a route keeping below 2500m which knocks out a lot of the region as most of the mountain passes are over this height. If you are looking to do some village to village trekking or day walks from a valley base then this is no problem but if you are looking to cross some passes then it is best to come prepared to be self sufficient in terms of load carrying abilities.

We don't advertise any public trekking trips for this time of the year, but if you would like us to help you organise your own trek bearing in mind what we've just said, then please contact us with your hopes and ideas.
